Peru will not reach the goal of economic growth Of 4% estimated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) for this year, the former MEF former, Luis Miguel Castilla, and the Public Policies Manager of the Peruvian Institute of Economy (IPE), Víctor Fuentes, said.
In statements a Peru21Castilla said that a part of the projections are based on the result of the export sector, however, uncertainty for the United States trade war could affect dynamism.
While, he acknowledged that the deregulatory shock of the MEF could boost the advance, he said that this would only be seen next year, because we must still expect the measures to be set underway.
He also indicated that a factor that will not allow greater growth is crime that hits the country. Regarding the uncertainty for the elections, he pointed out that its impact would only be seen next year.
For its part, Víctor Fuentes recalled that the IPE projects an advance of 3.1% (below 3.3% of 204) and considered that the MEF has an “optimistic bias” with the 4% projection. Like Castilla, he indicated that not addressing insecurity problems “will take its toll.”
Similarly, he said that it is “difficult to pretend” that the deployment of the projects presented by the Ministry of Economy and Finance can be executed for this year.
