The Congress of Peru authorized the president, peter castle, travel to Chile to attend the inauguration of the President-elect, Gabriel Boric, as the new head of state.
With 74 votes in favor, 31 against and 6 abstentions, the plenary session of Parliament approved the legislative resolution that gave the green light to Castillo’s temporary departure for March 10 and 11.
The change of command ceremony will be held on March 11 in Valparaíso.

The permission of the Congress was granted after the Peruvian president and the president of the Council of Ministers, Hannibal Torresthey will send an official letter with this request to the head of Parliament on the last Thursday, Maria del Carmen Alva.
In the document, they pointed out that Castillo’s visit to Chile will strengthen the ties of brotherhood and cooperation between both countries, in addition to giving continuity to a bilateral agenda aimed at identifying priority issues of common interest.
“It is also appropriate to reward the recent presence in Peru of the President of the Republic of Chile on the occasion of the transmission of the supreme command in our country,” reads the official letter.
