Due to the celebrations of Peruvian Coffee Daywhich will be this Friday, August 26, an increase in visits to coffee shops in Lima is expected, reported the Beat mobility application.
The application estimated that, due to visits to coffee shops throughout the city, on Friday there could be a growth of up to 15% in the demand for mobility to these spaces, compared to a day without this recognition of coffee.
“This celebration can cause an increase in the movement of people. Coffee is a product rooted in the national culture and with which many Peruvians rely on in their day to day”, highlighted Fausto Liñán, City Operations Manager at Beat Peru.
Due to its great national relevance, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri) declared in 2008 that every fourth Friday of the month of August the Day of Peruvian Coffee would be celebrated, in order to encourage its internal consumption and its production to generate jobs for many farmers.
Peru exports approximately 67,000 tons of coffee per year, ranking seventh worldwide, according to Midagri.
