Peruvian agricultural exports would grow 10.2% this year, ADEX projects

The director of CIEN-ADEX, Edgar Vásquez, stated that the current situation is quite complex and challenging, since there is uncertainty at the international level due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, inflation, logistical problems, among others.

However, he highlighted the resilience of the agro-export sector as it was one of those that maintained its dynamism on a global scale, and in Peru it was the only positive item in 2020, the year with the greatest negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Peruvian economy. .

Last year Peru was the first global exporter of blueberries, quinoa and grapes, the second of canned asparagus, fresh asparagus and canned olives, the third of avocado, dried paprika and canned artichokes and the fourth of ginger. He added that Peru is already the twelfth largest global supplier of fruits and the nineteenth of vegetables, so in the following years it should reach the top ten of both rankings.

Through a public-private synergy we will be able to face this scenario by adding more products to the export basket, which benefit thanks to the 22 trade agreements that connect us to 56 countries in the world, allowing 90% of everything exported by the Peru enter duty free”, he asserted.

Expofood Fair 2022

The Expoalimentaria (EA), the most important food and beverage fair in the region, will return to its usual face-to-face format, and would do business for around US$150 million, signifying a great boost for Peruvian agro-exports, announced the president of the Association of Exporters (ADEX), Julio Pérez Alván.

After two years of virtuality, it is very gratifying to return to our beginnings, especially due to the great relevance of EE in the country’s economy as it is one of the engines of growth in agro-exports, which in addition to being a great generator of jobs , creates various dynamic economic zones in various regions“, he pointed.

The EA 2022 will convene the largest buyers from the five continents such as traders, distributors and large food marketing chains, who come with the expectation of identifying the best of the agricultural offer of the coast, mountains and jungle, attracted by its high quality. , diversity and growing position at the tables of families around the world.

The Expoalimentaria Fair will be held from September 21 to 23 at the Jockey Club Convention Center.

A solid evidence of the success of the fair is the more than 40,000 visitors who come year after year and have made several countries of the world attend this event not only as buyers, but also as suppliers of their own products.”, he referred.

Likewise, he highlighted the public-private alliance, which allows achieving the development objectives in favor of exports and, consequently, in favor of Peru.
