Perumin expects to generate a commercial flow of more than S/ 80 million in Arequipa

The Perumin 35 Mining Convention, which will be held from September 26 to 30 at the Cerro Juli Convention Center, in Arequipa, expects to generate a commercial flow of more than S/ 80 million, in accommodation, food, shopping, travel, among others .

In this line, more than 300 flights have been enabled for the arrival of the conventionists to the “White City”, more than 30 hotels and lodgings to receive the participants.

During the press conference, Víctor Gobitz, director and past president of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru (IIMP), indicated that the event will promote a multi-stakeholder dialogue on sustainable mining, competitiveness, institutionality and conflict, for the sake of to generate a vision of shared development for this industry in the country.

Taking advantage of the great moment of mineral prices and the energy transition in which we find ourselves, Peru must join this great wave, prioritizing a shared vision. It is important to articulate processes and take into account that the portfolio of mining projects in the country would promote sustainable development and boost the economy”, highlighted Gobitz.

Likewise, the executive pointed out that issues such as the mineral wealth of the country and Latin America will be addressed, through the analysis of 14 mining projects in Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Brazil and Argentina; and analyzes and sectoral studies will be presented, including the Mining Competitiveness Index (developed by Macroconsult and the IIMP), Diagnosis of Peruvian Mining (World Bank), Portfolio of mining projects in Peru (Ingemmet), among others.

The Mining Convention expects to receive more than 50,000 visitors during its development, which is why they have been working together with more than 500 people from 100 companies, in the organization and staging of this event.

We currently have an 85% progress in the authorization of the Cerro Juli Convention Center. In addition, it is important to emphasize that we will have dozens of environments for conferences and work rooms, more than 1,400 stands in six exhibition pavilions, and 5 restaurants such as Chicha de Gastón Acurio, Tanta, El Montonero, La Despensa and Di Lucia, with capacity to serve 2,500 people”, he added.

Tribute to the mining martyrs

The Mining Convention will have rooms named after miners who were victims of terrorism. David Ballon; Nile Rivers Quintero; Herbert del Carpio and Edgardo Quispe; Adolfo Médico and Luis Tokumine; Camilo Zevallos; Ticlavilca brothers; Julio Huaman Huaroc; and Chavín de Huantar, will be the eight rooms that will be present at Perumin 35.

We believe that it is important to pay tribute to the people who were victims of terrorist attacks. In Peru, many people suffered and faced the actions of these genocidal groups, and the mine workers have not been an exception. Placing the name of martyr miners in the various rooms of the Mining Convention will allow us to continue their legacy and keep them always present.Gobitz pointed out.
