The number of homeless people in the municipality of Peruíbe, on the coast of São Paulo, rose to 442. Yesterday (9), the city hall declared an emergency situation, which has already been approved and published by the government of São Paulo.
The state’s Civil Defense sent a specialist to the municipality who is at city hall assisting municipal employees. The removal of people from risk areas began on Wednesday (8) and the number of homeless people has increased since then.
The families are sheltered in three locations: EMEF Profa. Maria Amélia, with 154 sheltered; EMEF Fernando Nepomuceno Filho, 120 sheltered; and EMEF Prof. Delcelia Joselita Machado Bezerra, 168 sheltered.
