The Peruvian authorities report this Saturday, February 4, more than seventy points “with interrupted traffic” in six regions of the country, concentrated in the south, due to anti-government protests that have left a balance of 69 people dead since last December.
According to the latest report from the Superintendence of Land Transportation of People, Cargo and Goods (Sutran), the transit points affected by the social protests include 16 national roads.
The map released by this public body shows that most of the blockades occur in the southern regions of Puno, located more than 1,200 kilometers south of Lima, and Cuzco, although there are also some in the neighboring regions of Madre de Dios. , Apurímac and in the Junín plant.
Among the affected areas in Puno is the highway to Desaguadero, one of the main transit points to Bolivia.
Blockades are also reported in the Amazon region of Madre de Dios, neighboring Puno and also on the border with Bolivia and Brazil, as well as in various points in the Cuzco region, near the provinces of Quispicanchi and Canchis.
The protesters demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, the closure of Congress, the calling of a constituent assembly and the advancement of general elections to 2023.

Since then, according to data from the Ombudsman’s Office, 47 demonstrators who participated in the protests have died as a result of clashes, while a policeman died after being burned alive by a mob.
Added to these victims are eleven deaths in events related to roadblocks, as well as a woman who died in the northern region of La Libertad, confirmed by the Police.
Likewise, President Boluarte announced the death of another patient who needed to get to Lima but was held up in the blockades and they are joined by seven Haitians whose death has been confirmed by Acnur and an unborn baby confirmed by Unicef.
