Peru Police stops 39 people allegedly linked to the Aragua train in Lima

A great operation of various special units of the National Police of Peru (PNP) arrested the early morning of this Sunday, April 20 to 39 people allegedly linked to the organization of the transnational crime Train of Aragua that were in a clandestine bar in Lima, official sources reported.

«In a new blow to the crime, agents the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirincri) of the National Police of Peru intervened a bunker and arrested 39 people, who, are presumed to be close to committing various crimes. Firearms were seized, ”said the Ministry of Interior in the Social Network X.

For its part, the National Police indicated in the same social network that the operation was carried out by the DIRINCRI, the National Directorate of Special Operations (Dinoes) and the Directorate against Trafficking in Persons.

“After an operation carried out by agents of the Directorate against Trafficking in Persons, Dinoes and Dirincri in a bunker located in the district of San Martín de Porres, where they would be foreigners linked to the criminal organization of the Train of Aragua,” said the PNP.

He added that 120 Venezuelan people intervened, “who are fully identified” and stopped in criminal flagrance to the subject ‘aka Robert’, for the alleged commission of the crime against public security.

“This is the result of the tenacious work that we have been doing to combat the sicariate and extortion,” said PNP Colonel Javier Suárez, head of the Special Brigade, to the Andean State Agency.

The operation against the Aragua train in Peru

The operation was carried out in a clandestine bar known as ‘Osiris’, located at the intersection of Canta Callao and Dominican avenues in the district of San Martín de Porres, located northwest of the capital.

Suarez explained that among the intervened are 18 men (16 Peruvians and 2 Venezuelans) and 21 women (8 Peruvians and 13 Venezuelan), in addition to a minor who initially said he is 19 years old, but then confessed to having 15.

In addition, two supplied firearms and 84 basic cocaine paste packages (PBC) were found inside the premises.

The case is in the hands of the Prosecutor’s Office to continue investigations and determine the corresponding responsibilities.

The Government of Peru extended on Monday for thirty days the statement of the state of emergency to combat crime in Lima and the neighboring province of Callao, after decreed on March 17.

During the extension of the state of emergency, the control of the internal order will remain in charge of the PNP, with the support of the Armed Forces and the restriction of constitutional rights related to the inviolability of domicile, freedom of traffic, freedom of meeting and freedom and personal security will be maintained.
