The bench of Free Peru I consider that the Organization of American States (OAS) must rule on “anti-democratic actions” of the opposition groups to the government of the president peter castle. This, after the international entity issued its support to the Executive.
Through a statement released on their social networks, the group led by Vladimir Cerron referred to the next visit of a “high level group” to Peru after the OAS activated the Democratic Charter following the request of peter castle to the secretary general of the organization, Louis Almagro.
“That, within the framework of the defense of democracy, the OAS must rule on the anti-democratic actions carried out by a sector of Congresswhich refuses to respect the popular will reflected in the general election 2021″, reads the statement.
Next, Free Peru pointed out that the Democratic Charter of the OAS it must go against “restrictive measures” that seek to delay the initiative of a new Constitution.
“In atention to Article 6 of the Inter-American Democratic Chartershould promote and encourage the broadest participation of citizens, in this sense, pronounce against the restrictive measures that limit the will of Peruvians to access a new constitution, via the constituent assembly”, expressed the parliamentary group.
Pedro Castillo asked the OAS to activate the Democratic Charter based on articles 17 and 18, which refers to the “strengthening and preservation of the institutional framework”. After approving this request, for the bench of Peru Libe, the OAS “must seek a solution to the political crisis” of the country “strengthening democratic channels, in opposition to the arrogance posed by the coup sector in the country”.
