The Free Peru bench demanded that the Board of Directors of Congress change the date of the Plenary in which the reconsideration of the vote of the motion of censure against the Minister of the Interior, Willy Huerta, will be evaluated, which was not approved last Friday 23 of September.
Through a statement, the pencil group rejected the call for this plenary session that was set for next Wednesday 28, as it highlighted that it coincides with the time assigned for the week of representation of parliamentarians.
“We reject the call of the Board of Directors of the Plenary Congress for this Wednesday, September 28, in the middle of the week of representationto deal with the reconsideration of the censure vote on Interior Minister Willy Huerta”, reads the statement.
“We demand that the Board of Directors change the date of the Plenary for after the week of representation, as it matches. Otherwise, we will evaluate the permanence of the current president of Congress due to lack of suitability for the position”, he added.
In this sense, the caucus of Peru Libre emphasized that the convening of this Plenary shows that the president of the Congress, Joseph Williams (Advance Country), “he only cares about his personal and coup interest”, instead of guaranteeing a representation for this power of the State for the benefit of the citizenry.
“Many congressmen who are from the provinces are going to be in their regions, listening and collecting demands from the people. Now, they are going to have to stop their activities for political interests that do nothing to solve the problems of the people, on the contrary, they further exacerbate the political crisis in which we find ourselves.”, stated the group.
For this reason, the bench pointed out that this kind of action would explain the high disapproval that Parliament currently has in the latest polls.
