A dead woman, three missing persons and more than 100 victims left an avalanche in the northern jungle of Peru that was shaken by a 7.5-degree earthquake in November, the authorities reported this Friday (12/24/2021).
“Civil Defense moved to the crossing The Caldera, where did the avalanche, leaving a deceased person as the balance, three missing and more than 100 people affected “, indicated the Municipality of Utcubamba, Amazonas region, on its page Facebook.
The avalanche -as the avalanche is called locally- occurred on the night of December 23 at the camp The Caldera from the district of Jamalca in the Amazon region. In the place lived families that were affected after the earthquake of 7.5 degrees of November 28 that destroyed their houses.
Brigades of the Municipality, Army and residents managed to transfer the affected people this morning to another shelter. The woman died instantly as a result of the beatings he got by the rocks while dragging his carp.
“Since the events of the earthquake in the Amazon, to date we have not lowered our guard, as platform we are constantly alert and we will continue working for the affected families, providing them with safety and health, “the mayor of Utcubamba, Alan García, told reporters.
The incident was caused by torrential rains registered in the area this southern summer. The water falls during the season in the Andes and the jungle have caused the weakening of the land, which favors avalanches and river overflows.
