The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) regretted the confrontation between several players and members of his team and some agents of the National Police who guaranteed their safety at the gates of the NH Collection Eurobuilding hotel in Madrid, during the traditional flag-waving of the fans in support of the team and showed their support for the goalkeeper Pedro Galleseone of those involved.
“The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) regrets the events that occurred in Madrid, where the traditional banner of the fans in support of “LaBicolor” was held. The FPF is totally supportive and supports our selected Pedro Gallese to whom, accordingly, we have accompanied since the incident occurred outside the team’s concentration hotel, prior to the friendly match against Morocco,” he said in a statement.
“Likewise, we reiterate that we are respectful of the authorities and procedures of each country we visit. For this reason, we are at the full disposal of internal and external control agencies to help clarify what happened,” he adds about what happened.
The clash occurred when, according to police sources and as corroborated by the videos recorded by witnesses, some of the players of the Peruvian team exceeded the security perimeter marked to greet the fans at the doors of the hotel where they are staying. Given this, the agents of the Police Intervention Unit (UIP), better known as riot police, told them that they should go back towards the door of the hotel, starting the altercations.
In its message, the FPF “thanks the collaboration of the Consulate of Peru in Madrid, led by Fernando Álvarez, as well as the support of the lawyer Carlos Quiñónez” and adds: “We call on the calm and tranquility of our fans and we express our total rejection of the violence. We will continue promoting mutual respect and we will ensure the integrity and rights of Pedro Gallese and all our selected, technical command and work team”.
