He Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of the Peru approved a total of ten extradition requests, both active and passive, in compliance with current legal procedures and international treaties signed by the country.
The decision was adopted with the prior opinion of the Official Commission on Extraditions and Transfer of Convicted Persons, made up of said ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The corresponding supreme resolutions were published in the official gazette The Peruvian.
Active extraditions: serious crimes prosecuted
The Ministry of Justice detailed that four active extradition requests will be presented to the authorities of Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Venezuelawith the purpose of these nations handing over people involved in serious crimes such as illicit drug trafficking, aggravated robbery and homicide.
Among the most relevant cases is the request for the extradition of Ronald Cotrina Salazarwho had an international arrest warrant for his alleged participation in the murder of the son of a former mayor of San Juan de Lurigancho that occurred in 2014.
Passive extraditions: delivery of required persons
Likewise, six passive extraditions were authorized to deliver people required by the judicial authorities of Chili, Argentina and USAfor crimes such as homicide, robbery and illicit drug trafficking, among others.
In this group, the authorization for the surrender of the alleged criminal stands out Tony Janzen Valverde Victorianoalso known as “Montana”, who will be handed over to the Argentine justice system to be prosecuted for his alleged responsibility in a triple feminicide of young Argentine women.
