Persecution of twelve hours preceded confiscation 1,536 cocaine packages

Three Dominicans and a Colombian were arrested during the operation carried out in Pedernales. It is one of the greatest maritime seizures in Dominican waters.

Santo Domingo.-The most recent blow to organized crime was recorded yesterday at dawn when agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) seized a stash of 1,536 packages (1.5 tons), being the largest cargo of cocaine that has been occupied this year.

During the operation executed by air, sea and land, and in which members of the Navy and the Air Force of the Dominican Republic (FARD) participated, in addition to the Public Ministry, the Dominicans Carlos Carrasco Féliz, Miguel Jesús Novas, Miguel Ángel Féliz and the Colombian Carlos José Jiménez Navarro were arrested.

“This is one of the seizures of greatest volume occupied throughout the history of the Dominican Republic, it must be 7 or 8 in Pedernales, as well as the largest in the maritime area because we are talking about 1,536 packages,” said Carlos Devers, spokesman for the organism during the press conference at the DNCD headquarters.

The four detainees will be subjected to justice.

The agency said that helicopters, naval units and terrestrial tactical equipment, gave persecution for more than 12 hours, managing to intercept the vessel of about 35 feet of length, several nautical miles to the west of Cabo False, province of Pedernales.

It is presumed that the cargo arrived from South America.
Inside the boat, gray, with two outboard engines, 250 horsepower each, 53 bales were seized, containing a total of 1,536 packages of alleged cocaine, wrapped in black plastic covers and with different logos.

Other seizures
In the course of 2025 the authorities have confiscated about 20 tons of different types of substances nationwide, 90 % of those occupations to cocaine corresponding.

At the beginning of June, the DNCD occupied 1,420 cocaine packages, during an operation in the coastal area that included an armed confrontation.

The confiscation was possible when the authorities gave persecution for air, sea and land, to several individuals who intended to introduce an important cargo of narcotic substances aboard a quick boat, along the coasts of San Pedro de Macorís.

In the midst of the persecution, the individuals performed maneuvers to evade the fence, penetrated the Higuamo River and ran the boat in the mouth of the Magua River, causing a shooting, where no people have been reported.

Then a tracking was performed throughout the place, a boat was seized, with three engines of 300 horsepower each, where 46 bags were seized with 1,360 presumably cocaine packages, as well as three bales of a vegetable that is presumed is marijuana, 09 fuel tanks, a canvas, among other evidence.

In addition, next to the place, two yipetas and a truck were occupied, all left lit by their occupants at the time of the operation; A loader for rifle with capacity for 30 capsules 5.56, personal documents, among other evidence.

Dope
In the last two months, the authorities have confiscated more than 6,100 pounds of marijuana (2.8 tons) in two large operations executed in the border provinces of Montecristi and Pedernales, as part of an offensive against drug trafficking in the border area with Haiti.

The most recent case was recorded last Friday, when the National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) reported on the seizure of 1,303 pounds of marijuana during a joint monitoring and intelligence operation in the province of Montecristi.

The confiscation was carried out through a search in a house located on Dominican street residents in the United States, in the good man sector, Villa Vásquez municipality.

According to investigations, the property was used as a collection center for narcotic substances.

This operation adds to another important blow against drug trafficking executed last May, when agents of the DNCD, in coordination with the body specialized in Earth Border Safety (Cesfront) and the Public Ministry, intercepted a tanker of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the highway section between flint and oviedo with 4,836 pounds of marijuana inside.

Arrested will be subject to justice
Process. The four detainees will be subjected to justice in the next few hours for violation of Law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances, while the packets of the substance were sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), to determine the exact type and weight of the cargo.

The DNCD highlights the support of the Armed Forces, the Attorney General’s Office, State Intelligence Agencies and international cooperation, which has been decisive.
