Permanent negotiating table with public servants resumes

The federal government resumed today (7) the National Permanent Negotiation Table with entities representing public servants. The return of activities occurs after years of suspension of dialogue between the parties.Permanent negotiating table with public servants resumes

The table was originally installed in 2003. With the resumption, the federal government promises to once again lead the construction of participatory channels, where conflicts and demands arising from labor relations in the direct federal, autarchic and foundational public administration are dealt with.

The initiative, according to the Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, will seek negotiated solutions between the parties and the establishment of norms aimed at improving the quality of services provided, in addition to the debate of themes related to the democratization of the State and citizenship.

“Although the previous government did not hold a dialogue with the civil servants, they did not revoke the table. They just didn’t call people to talk. Or, when they did, they called it in a truculent, authoritarian way,” he said. “The reopening, this year, is a commitment to Brazilian democracy and respect for those who provide public service.”

For the secretary of Personnel Management and Labor Relations of the portfolio, Sérgio Mendonça, the panel constitutes an important instrument in the democratization of the State and labor relations in the federal public service, based on principles such as legality, impersonality, morality, participation, quality of services, and freedom of association.

“Many say that civil servants adhere to a legal regime and must obey it rigidly, with no room for conflict. The board does not start from this premise, on the contrary, it understands that civil servants, like all workers, have legitimate interests that may or may not come into conflict with the administration and the federal government.”

The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad; from Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet; of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho; from Social Security, Carlos Lupi; of Education, Camilo Santana; and directors of entities representing federal public servants.

“I’m a state public servant, I’m a professor at the University of São Paulo and I know what it’s like to go years without any kind of attention or consideration. Worse than that is being demonized by those who should be taking care of society and those who take care of society. The objective here is to get the grenade out of your pockets”, pointed out Haddad.

“The important thing is to talk. That’s democracy. Respect for differences, worldviews. Always build consensus, paths that can value and respect what is most important within a government and management, which is the quality of the public service provided to the population”, defended the Minister of Education.

The general secretary of the Confederation of Workers in the Federal Public Service, Sérgio Ronaldo, classified the moment as extremely important for union entities. “After all the turmoil we’ve been through for the last six, seven years,” he recalled. “It was at the negotiating table that we were able to deal with all the demands and have a good debate.”

“We want that today, if possible, in the afternoon, we already take the first step in the negotiation process for the set of servants of the Executive”, he concluded.
