The Indian Ambassador to Paraguay, Yogeshwar Sangwan, spoke about the historic commemoration that will take place on December 26. It is a day in homage to the heroism of two children.

“We are celebrating the heroic children’s day on December 26. The martyrdom of two small children of 7 and 9 years is commemorated. While the children ask for toys, these two children are the representation of sacrifice, delivery and heroism for their spiritual convictions.explained Ambassador Yogeshwar Sangwan, during his visit to the “Aire de Todos” program of the GEN channel and Montecarlo FM radio.

This Monday, December 26, 2022, the first celebration of the “Ver Bal Diwas”, to honor the courage of the SAHIBZADE (descendants) of the Tenth Guru Gobind Singh Ji and to honor the martyrdom of these children Baba Fateh Singh and Zorawar Singh.

In this sense, the ambassador said that It is planned to hold a digital exhibition at the Sheraton Hotel in Asunción next Monday, in order to share the life story of these two children.

THE STORY OF THE SAHIBZADE

The story tells that Guru Gobind Singh, leader of the Sikh religion at the time, and his family had to leave the Anandpur Sahib Fort, For security reasons, a fierce war broke out against the Mongols, who professed another religion, Islamism, for territories near the Sarsa river (also called Sirsa).

Guru Gobind Singh Ji, eldest son Sahibzade and a group of Sikhs arrived at the Chamkaur fort on December 23, 1704, there, Brothers Baba Ajit Singh and Baba Jujhar Singh were cruelly martyred and killed in the fighting by 10 Mongolian soldiers.

At the same time, Gangu (the Guru’s old cook) took the Sahibzade children to his home village Kheri accompanied by Mrs. Mata Gujri Ji (mother of the children). Driven by greed, Gangu betrayed them and turned them over to the authorities.

The tyrannical Nawab of Sarhind, Wazir Khan, imprisoned the Sahibzade children and their mother in the Thanda Burj fort and brought them before the Court for three consecutive days.

The Sahibzade children were threatened with death if they did not convert to Islam. But, when the youngest of the Sahibzade flatly rejected this imposition, the tyrant Wazir Khan ordered his soldiers to take the Sahibzade children of 7 and 9 years respectively to be martyred and walled up, to be buried alive in the wall. This event occurred in the city of Sirhind on December 26, 1704.
