In the coming days, the Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union will approve the appointment of the former attorney general of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero, as the new ambassador of Mexico to the United Kingdom, announced President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Without elaborating further on the subject, and after the European country granted the corresponding approval, the president anticipated that the legislators will endorse the designation.
Gertz Manero resigned as prosecutor last November amid strong pressure on the performance of the Attorney General’s Office.
At night, Morena’s parliamentary coordinators, Ricardo Monreal and Adán Augusto López, went to the National Palace to meet with the President.
However, Monreal specified that they addressed the legislative agenda as they usually do weekly, without talking about electoral reform.
He only mentioned that the approaches of the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, with the allied Green Ecologist and Labor parties will continue this Tuesday.
