Perfect dictatorship around the corner

US investment in the Mexican southeast

Many years ago “you know who”, from the opposition, a strong smear movement began in the media and now social networks against all governments emanating from any different political force, all actions, decisions, laws, were wrong and worst of all is that Mexicans have always been led to believe that governing is an easy task.

Today, three years after the fourth transformation, unfortunately we see a very weakened Mexico in the eyes of the world, with persecuted and disappeared institutions, with official cabinet officials waging an eternal political campaign on social networks, with harassment of journalists and murders for cases proven cases of impunity and, the icing on the cake, with a democracy hanging by a thread.

Just a few days ago, the British newspaper, The Economist, ranked our country in 86th place out of 167 nations with a “hybrid regime” instead of “deficient democracy”, a category that places it between authoritarianism and democracy and also warning that the next elections in 2024 may see a greater erosion of democracy, which is totally serious.

Now, speaking of the disappearance of institutions, I believe that freedom of expression is another of the great institutions in our country that we must protect and today it is in imminent danger, violence in all its forms against journalists is on the rise, the Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) based in New York has placed Mexico in sixth place in its Global Impunity Index for murders against journalists, only below countries such as Syria, Iraq. and Afghanistan.

The communicators and journalists are the tribune of society, minimizing what is happening and above all publicly harassing some from the largest space of dissemination of the Government “the morning”, I consider it a serious betrayal of those who always gave voice to the old opposition that governs us today.

Governing means making immediate decisions, a responsible government must make decisions on time and in critical circumstances like the ones we are experiencing, carry out actions that always put citizens first, today “you know who” and your entire cabinet is being polarized they created, it was they who made us think that our only job as citizens is to distrust our public servants and institutions and it will be very difficult for Mexico to return to being the country it was.

What we want? Sensitivity, closeness and that they enforce the Law, not one less journalist leaving helpless families for the simple fact of doing their job, not one more beaten and weakened institution and above all a firm respect for freedom of expression and diversity of ideas.

As I mentioned in my previous article, from any front we can contribute a grain of sand to transform our country, therefore, from the highest tribune of Tabasco I will promote an initiative to care for and protect our journalists, so that they have legal benefits, a better quality of life and above all so that their lives and that of their families are in danger.

Without freedom of expression, there is no democracy and without democracy there is no future. Governing is not an easy task, but having the will to do it for everyone and in the best way is. If we don’t take action on the matter, the perfect dictatorship is just around the corner.
