Pérez Vivas: While some leaders loot, misery continues to grow in Venezuela

In a visit to the Mercado Mayor de Coche, in Caracas, the candidate for the opposition primaries promised the citizens to “return his salary and restore decent pensions for retirees.”

The presidential candidate Cesar Perez Vivas questioned, this Monday March 20, that while the funds of the Venezuelan State are lost in “shameful and reprehensible corruption scandals of red hierarchs, hunger and misery continue to gallop in the country.” This is a reference to the arrests for corruption in the ranks of chavismo.

After a visit to the Mercado Mayor de Coche, in Caracas, the candidate for the primaries of the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) said that Venezuela cannot be a developed country while 80% of its citizens live in poverty. As an example of this reality, he referred to the children, women and the elderly that he saw, in the aforementioned wholesaler, selling plastic bags and cigarettes to survive.

«The Car Market, one more proof of the poverty that Venezuela has. I have spoken with buyers and their salary is not enough to be able to take what is necessary to their homes. Also in this meeting with formal vendors and peddlers, they have told us about the tragedy of the rattle and the harassment of which they are permanent victims,” said the former governor of Táchira.

“Our goal is to focus on key areas such as education, employment, salary and health. We are committed to a more just and equitable society. It is important to address the root causes of inequality to achieve the physical and spiritual reconstruction of our nation,” she said.
