Pereira said that the government is lost, it slaps like a drowning man and analyzes politics like in a ring

In the last few hours, Pereira published an opinion column on his Facebook account entitled: “Minister García’s difficult task, showing the government’s achievements,” in which he refers to the government’s march and the political positioning of some of the its main figures.

Pereira quotes an article from the newspaper El País in which the Minister of National Defense, Javier García, stated that, as indicated by the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, they have to show the “achievements of the government, one of the most difficult tasks of realize”.

In this sense, Pereira expresses that “it would be easier to put the announcements on the table, which have been many, very varied and impossible to corroborate.”

falsehoods

“Within the announcements is that they did not touch the taxes to cover the expenses. False news: 100 million dollars per year, with 2 VAT points on debit purchases (35 million dollars) and changes in the formula for calculating personal income tax and IASS (65 million dollars), and also the taxes COVID (11 million dollars) ”, detailed the president of the FA.

He added that the government told the Uruguayans that they were not going to transfer resources from the public companies to the central government, “but they took 116 million dollars from UTE and 40 million dollars from ANTEL, another false announcement.”

“That salaries and pensions were not going to go down and of course they did. In the five years of this government, workers will continue to lose wages and, only in the best of hypotheses, will they earn the same as in 2019 when the Lacalle Pou government ends. For workers and retirees, it will have been a lost half decade,” he remarked.

He stressed that in 2021 “there are 66 thousand more poor people than in 2019 and this means a huge setback for social integration.”

On the other hand, he indicated that Uruguay is facing an “emergency in terms of public security”, where the data for the next few days will give a very important growth in crime. And as if that were not enough, the Minister of the Interior “could not present a plan”.

Unkept promises

Pereira also said that the government announces a record public investment for this year, but it is not known what this statement is based on, “public investment continues to fall and concrete plans are not known.”

He recalled that an FTA with China was announced, whose pre-feasibility agreement was going to be in December, according to what the government itself stated, “another announcement that does not materialize.”

“And so we could show a world of unfulfilled promises, among them that fuel prices were not going to increase and they increased nine times in less than half a government, above wages and the CPI,” he remarked.

He questioned that, just in case, Uruguay gave away the port of Montevideo for 50 years, without a legal or technical report, “leaving the country imprisoned by a private and illegal monopoly, which can charge the prices it wants without control.”

Likewise, Pereira stated that “they added 3 million dollars to each private channel for being able to broadcast on ANTEL’s Vera TV, and they gave the cable operators the license to sell private Internet to favor the same companies,” which he described as inexplicable. .

“Since the government took office, the education budget has dropped by more than 100 million dollars, having signed the Eduy21 white paper, which meant a budget increase of 550 million, another unfulfilled promise.”

very nervous

He questioned that they entrusted Minister García with a difficult task and since it is difficult for him to find achievements, he disqualifies.

“You have to be very nervous to say that the Broad Front ‘lacked a sense of nationality and homeland’, and it is very difficult to understand such a disqualification,” lamented the president of the FA.

He added that such lack of political criteria is partly due to the adverse results of the polls and partly due to the lack of competence to carry out the president’s suggestions.

“There are limits that this government passes without criteria. They seem like isolated cases, permanent disqualifications to those of us who think differently, occupying the center of the ring with elbows, ”he joked.

He added: “Disqualifying the University of the Republic, the unions, the Attorney General’s Office, the Human Rights Institute, among some of the institutions that have been attacked.”

Pereira stated that in the case of the Broad Front and its authorities, there was talk of “intellectual dishonesty, institutional disloyalty, anti-democratic, among many other disqualifications.”

drowning slaps

“If those of us who think differently from the government analyze us down to the psyche. They are lost and throw smothered hands, but people know how to evaluate well. This aggressive tactic will be answered with active and responsible militancy and speaking with most of the social organizations of Uruguay”, he assured.

Pereira also stated that “they promised the Uruguayans the best five years of their lives and they have failed, among other things because they analyze politics as if it were a boxing ring and that is not the way to handle differences in Uruguay.” .
