“Changing the chain for a conference is changing the rules of the game here or in China,” Pereira pointed out.
The leader –in Montevideo– and Lacalle Pou –in Soriano– explained in press conferences how the events took place as a result of the talks that both commands closed this Monday on the national network and the press conference, ahead of the referendum on March 27. The Sí will have the national network on Tuesday the 22nd, and the president will lead a press conference the following day.
Pereira criticized Lacalle Pou for a change in the rules of the game, and asked for equal opportunitiesin terms of the minutes and the approach that will be made at the journalistic level of the national network, compared to the press conference.
Another of the points under discussion – this time, in which both agree – is that the Presidency does not formulate a response to the material that 24 hours before would have issued the Yes. Pereira explained it as follows: “We told him that it was not fair for the president to reply to the Yes chain. He said he was not going to reply. For that he was going to do it before”. The account coincides with that of the president.
However, and in view of that explanation, Pereira added: “He did not comply. But it’s not a matter of wanting to be dishonest. I do not believe it. I think it’s a campaign orientation problem that, for many times, the wrong mechanisms are used.”
