“Minister Lema ignores the President and is hard on people and does not debate ideas,” said Fernando Pereira, the candidate for the presidency of the Broad Front, referring to Martín Lema, Minister of Social Development.

“Mr. Lema, in 2020, the Institute of Economics, in a report prepared by economists Matías Brum and Mauricio Da Rosa, told all Uruguayans that if a point of the product was not invested in people with vulnerability, more than 100 a thousand were going to fall below poverty. (Material published by the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Administration) ”, assured Pereira in a publication that he shared on his social networks.

And he added: “The government made the decision not to invest and as a consequence 100,000 compatriots fell below the poverty line, 35,000 of whom are boys and girls.”

Pereira asked Martín Lema “instead of attacking and disqualifying, take charge, that is why they appointed him (…) Not one of the sentences pronounced, nor of the data provided, are directed to people, but rather to the lack of policies to avoid the social damage that the pandemic could bring with it ”.

“All the data that I give is duly documented and the government’s savings were public and communicated by the Government to the whole of society,” he concluded. “There is no doubt that we are beginning to return!”
