The Minister of Education, Jaime Perzcyk, declared himself in favor of showing the matches of the next World Cup in schools and defended the right of students to watch these games in educational establishments.
“We are convinced that school is the best place for girls and boys to be,” said the minister.
“The World Cup is a sporting and cultural event that in Argentina takes on an extraordinary magnitude. We believe that Argentina’s games should be shown in schools and filled with content,” he added on his Twitter account.
He also indicated that “girls and boys ask to see the games and they have the right like all Argentines”
For Perczyk, “it is an excellent opportunity to arouse interest and to work linking questions of ethics, history, social sciences, geography, literature or mathematics.”
The proposal must be approved by the Federal Education Council.
“We are convinced that school is the best place for boys and girls to be, and that is why we are promoting the World Cup’s pedagogical content,” concluded the minister.
