After a series of negotiations, PepsiCo workers at the Sorocaba and Itaquera plants, in São Paulo, ended this week the strikes protesting against the working day that involves six days on and one day off, the so-called 6X1 scale. THE strike started at the end of November.
After an agreement signed in court this week between the company and the São Paulo Dairy and Food Industry Workers Union (Stilasp), the approximately 600 employees in Itaquera and the 700 in Sorocaba decided to return to work.
Stilasp negotiated a pact that changes the work schedule and introduces new conditions for employees. The agreement establishes a daily working day of 20 minutes more. With this, workers will have one Saturday free per month. The agreement, which also provides for stability of 45 days, during which the company can only dismiss for just cause, comes into force from January 1, 2025.
PepsiCo reaffirmed the legality of the 6X1 scale and highlighted the importance of dialogue and negotiation, in addition to reaffirming its commitment to ethical and responsible relationships. “The resolution is the result of dialogue and the transitional negotiation process by the company, seeking balance between all parties involved,” said the company in a statement.
