Former Venezuelan international soccer player Jose Ravelo Rodriguez He died this past morning at the age of 78 in Jerez de la Frontera, a city in Cadiz where he had lived since 1969, sources close to the deceased informed Efe this Sunday.
Pepe Ravelo, as he was known in his football career, was born in 1944 in San Cristóbal de la Laguna (Tenerife) and emigrated to Venezuela at an early age, in whose league he played and was an absolute international, playing in the qualifiers prior to the 1966 England World Cup with this South American team.
Back in Spain, in the 1965-66 season he signed for the Cordova, with whom he played three seasons in the First Division. In the Second Division, he was in the Tenerife Y Xerez CDa club in which in addition to being a footballer, after his retirement, he was technical secretary, coach of the subsidiary and advisor in the most recent stage as a sports public limited company.
After the foundation in 2013 of the Xerez Deportivo FC football club, Ravelo stood for election and was its first elected president, a position in which he remained until 2017
