Pepe Abreu rejects general voluntary salary increase

Trade unionist Rafael -Pepe- Abreu rejected this Thursday that the overall salary increase be voluntary, as proposed by the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep).

Abreu understands that the wage readjustment must be agreed to guarantee that it is fulfilled.

“In order for an increase to be valid, it must be agreed with the National Committee for Salary”, he expressed.

He stated that there are no guarantees of its application in case of making the readjustment voluntarily.

Pepe Abreu assures that the Minister of Labor, Luis Miguel De Camps García, favors that the increase be agreed between the labor sector and the business community.

According to the trade unionist, the official is managing a meeting with the Labor Consultative Council to reach an agreement.

He adds that the interest of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, is that before the end of the year the agreement can be finalized.
