This Sunday, August 25, Venezuelans will participate in the second National Popular Consultation, in which those over 15 years of age are invited to vote on this important day.
“All Venezuelans aged 15 and over are called to participate on Sunday,” said Ana María Cabrera, member of the National Electoral Commission and spokesperson for the Unidos por el Gigante Commune in Miranda State, in a press conference from the Ministry for Communes and Social Movements.
Rehabilitation and beautification of homes are some of the projects that communities like Sarría, located in the El Recreo parish in Caracas, will choose this weekend.
“The only requirement needed to participate is an identity card. In addition, anyone over 15 years of age can vote,” a community leader from Sarria told Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
He pointed out that through the Bolivarian Revolution, progress is being made in popular organization to resolve community problems. “When Commander Hugo Chávez called us to make a Revolution, it was not easy. But, over the years, there is a commitment to work that President Nicolás Maduro continues to follow,” he stressed.
The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, has indicated that the consultation is a direct, popular, free and secret election throughout 4,505 municipal circuits of the country. In total, 27,420 projects will be submitted for this consultation.
This activity is a form of organization supported by law, where social welfare initiatives, which are selected by vote, will be financed directly by the central government and administered by the communities, who will be guarantors of the fulfillment of these projects.
