Pentagon agency suspends celebrations for Martin Luther King's day

The Pentagon Intelligence Agency has suspended the celebrations of the day of Martin Luther King Jr., Juneteenth, days of commemoration of the Holocaust and other annual historical or cultural events due to the prohibition of President Trump President Trump of diversity, equity and inclusion programs ( DEI) throughout the federal government, according to a new internal memorandum.

The instructions, sent in a memorandum of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) dated January 28, affect 11 annual events. “Day will suspend all activities and events related to the agency’s special emphasis programs with immediate validity and until new notice,” establishes the memorandum.

“In addition, the special celebrations that are held throughout the year are also suspended.”

Among the “special celebrations” are the day of Martin Luther King Jr. and the United States Independence Day, although the memorandum said that the pause would not affect those federal holidays.

The month of black history is also included in the pause, the month of the history of women, the Day of Women’s Equality, the days of the memory of the Holocaust, the month of the inheritance of the American Asians of the islands Del Pacífico, the national month of Hispanic inheritance, the national month of the American indigenous inheritance and the national month of employment awareness for disabled.

When asked, Pentagon officials said they are not aware of a policy of the entire defense department regarding this issue.

In an executive order on January 20, Trump took measures to end the DEI programs throughout the federal government with another order signed on Monday to “abolish” all Dei offices within the Department of Defense and National Security.

But the White House has not given a clear orientation on how the agencies could comply with the directives, a gap that caused a brief uproar when the Air Force temporarily eliminated the videos about the pilot women of the Second World War of their courses.

The Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, on the other hand, ordered the staff to create a working group to promote “policies based on merit and without color distinction” on Wednesday throughout the United States army and ensure that they do not continue to exist Dei programs.

As part of that effort, race and sex will be eliminated from considerations for military promotions, admissions to academic defense institutions and professional fields.
