Havana, Cuba. – The penitentiary authorities of the forced labor camp La Lima denied the probation to the 11J Harlen Oropesa Carrero statement, according to him he denounced in telephone conversation with Cubanet Last Friday, August 1.
According to the political prisoner, the progression to probation – for which he claimed to meet all the requirements – would have corresponded to him as of July 22.
The 11J protester also pointed out that the refusal was not communicated personally by any official, but was published in an unpleasant poster dated June 17, 2025, in which he appeared listed as “a person denied by crime connoted.”
Harlen Oropesa Carrero is currently 41 years old and is a resident of the Modern Luyanó cast, in the capital municipality of San Miguel del Padrón. He is a graduate of Primary Education of the Pedagogical School “President Salvador Allende”.
On July 11, 2021 he was arrested on the Güines road while participating in the peaceful protests that took place that day throughout the national geography. Initially it was taken to the Ivanov prison, located in the Cotorro municipality. Upon reaching that prison installation of maximum rigor they made him pass through two rows of soldiers who hit the captures arrested.
Subsequently, he was transferred to the Penitentiary Center of Máximo Rigor Valle Grande, located in the municipality of La Lisa, west of the capital, and later towards the El Pitirre prison, known as 15-80, also of maximum rigor, located on the Santa María del Rosario highway in the capital municipality of San Miguel del Padrón.
The protester was sentenced to nine years of deprivation of liberty for the false crimes of public disorders, contempt, attack and instigation to commit crimes. In statements prior to this media, he has indicated that his judgment was lacking the procedural guarantees and that he was “rigged.” The process was developed on August 1 and 2 at the Popular Municipal Court of Oct October.
The political prisoner was transferred last March 15 to the La Lima Open Penitentiary Center, where he is currently.
