Pending issues for Muniain to sign for San Lorenzo

Pending issues for Muniain to sign for San Lorenzo

“I’m happy to be back here. Let’s see if it can happen.” This is how Iker Muniain responded to the numerous Argentine journalists who were waiting for his arrival at Ezeiza airport yesterday. The former Athletic player has made great progress in his talks with San Lorenzo and, pending the resolution of a couple of bureaucratic issues, everything points to him signing a contract with the Ciclón as a free agent until the end of 2025. The Navarrese, in fact, already passed the relevant medical tests yesterday at the Rossi Centre.

According to Barça sources yesterday, the points to be agreed upon for the definitive closing of the operation affected a series of important financial issues for the player himself and the exit clauses which, apparently, would be for the club and the player every six months. If these issues are resolved, the idea is that Muniain will be presented today as a new San Lorenzo player. The operation, if carried out, will cost the Argentine club around two million euros.

Muniain would become the sixth Spaniard to wear the Barça shirt after José Iraragorri (1939-1941), Emilio Alonso Larrazábal (1940), Isidro Lángara (1939-1943), Ángel Zubieta (1939-1952) and Javier Artero López (1999).
