Peñarol thrashed Argentina’s Barracas Central without major difficulties while Nacional beat Ñublense after a penalty shootout Chilean, in the first friendly duels played by the greats of the uruguayan soccer in 2022. The two most important teams in the country played this Monday the Gastón Güelfi cups -in the case of Peñarol- and Miguel Restuccia -by Nacional- in tribute to two of the main presidents that both institutions have had in their history.
The coal team had no trouble beating the promoted Argentine team in a game in which they dominated from start to finish and, in the second half, showed all their offensive arsenal. Those led by Mauricio Larriera opened the scoring in the first half thanks to a penalty scored by Paul Cepellini and from there they dominated the game. In the second half and despite the large number of changes that usually occur in this type of game, Peñarol was forceful and sealed the victory thanks to a header from the defender Ramon Arias, a debutante shot rodrigo saravia, from the bottom of the club, and a very good heel from the side John Manuel Ramos.
The other match of the day on Monday ended with the victory of Nacional on penalties against Ñublense, after equalizing 2-2 in the ninety minutes. In an even match, Nacional had the best opportunities but at no time did they manage to feel superior to the humble Chilean team -which this year will play the Copa Sudamericana for the second time in its history-. Ñublense was the one who opened the scoring after 22 minutes thanks to a shot from Rodrigo Cisterna that deflected and left goalkeeper Sergio Rochet with nothing to do. A few seconds later, Nacional equalized thanks to a similar move in which a shot from Philip Carballo he deviated and left Uruguayan goalkeeper Nicola Pérez on the way. Before the end of the first half mario risso He put the tricolor advantage thanks to a great header but at 73, and thanks to a very important distraction from the Nacional midfield, alexander aravena sealed equality. In the definition by penalties, Rochet showed his hierarchy and stopped two of the four shots that were thrown at him to give Nacional the victory.
This Wednesday both greats will change rivals since Peñarol will face Ñublense and Nacional will face Barracas Central. However, the heads of both will be set on the Uruguayan soccer classic that they will play this Saturday at the Centenario stadium.
