Police officers found the body of a man half-buried and in a state of decomposition on a farm located in the Peñarol neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon.
According to what was reported by the head of the Montevideo Police, Mario D’Elía, the body was half-buried and an arm could be seen. A search of the site revealed the entire body, which was covered in lime.
The body was found in a vacant lot located in the vicinity of the streets Arturo Despouey and Jose Bergamin. The body was decomposing, so the authorities estimate that it has been in that place for several days.
However, D’Elía explained that they still could not determine if the victim was killed at the site or if she was killed in another place and then transferred. According to what the chief said, there is a lot of weeds in the area and it is necessary to weed in order to “set the scene well.”
Prosecutor Carlos Negro was also present at the scene of the events and indicated that they are working to find another body in the area. Likewise, he assured that a discovery of these “does not attract attention” since “these cases are increasingly seen.”
He was being investigated for other crimes.
This Wednesday the authorities were able to confirm the identity of the body found, being a 26-year-old man.
This person was investigated with his link to other crimes that occurred in the Peñarol neighborhood. One of the crimes was the murder of an 18-year-old who was chased and shot to death from a motorcycle. For this case, the Prosecutor’s Office charged another man targeted as the leader of a criminal dedicated to the negotiation of narcotic substances.
The other homicide to which the now deceased would be linked corresponds to that of a woman from the area who, once killed, dismembered and hid his remains in different storm drains in the area.
