Penal Forum confirms the release of five foreign citizens

The non-governmental organization Foro Penal confirmed the release of five foreign citizens in the country. Through his count in X They detailed that citizens Cristian Cenuse, Sergiy Rudavskyy, Mykhailo Kostiv, Zsuzsanna Bossanyi and Alireza Akbari received precautionary measures.

Cenuse, a citizen of Romania, was arrested on September 27, 2024 when he was traveling on buses from San Cristóbal, Táchira state, and was on a tourist trip to see South America.

Cristian Cenuse was missing for 10 months and during that time he contacted his wife and informed her that he was imprisoned in Venezuela.

Sergiy Rudavskyy, a Ukrainian national, was detained on January 7 of last year, while traveling on a private boat to the island of Margarita, in the state of Nueva Esparta.

The NGO, dedicated to the defense of human rights, also reported that Mykhailo Kostiv (Ukraine), who was arrested on January 7 of last year in Barcelona, ​​Anzoátegui state, when the yacht he was on ran out of fuel and stopped to refuel.

Likewise, they indicated that the Hungarian citizen Zsuzsanna Bossanyi (Hungary) was also released from prison and is already in her country of origin. She was imprisoned on June 18, 2025. She was one of the crew members of the underwater exploration ship N35 intercepted 80 miles off the country’s coast.

The other foreigner who was released Alireza Akbari, an Iranian-Irish citizen, who was arrested on June 22, 2025.

These releases were announced by the Penal Forum on the evening of last Saturday, January 17.

The Unitary Platform has confirmed 155 releases and demanded that the release processes be accelerated so that “the suffering of political prisoners and their families, who have remained permanently vigil outside many of the penitentiary centers, finally ends.”

On January 8, Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly, announced the release of a “significant number” of people, which generated expectations among relatives of political prisoners. For her part, Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the Executive, said that 406 precautionary measures have been granted.
