“In attention to the accusation made known in the last hours, I have personally requested Deputy Erico Galeano to make himself available to the Public Ministry and the judicial authorities, in order to determine his responsibility for the facts attributed to him”, says the statement issued this Friday by the president-elect, Santiago Peña.
Peña added that as elected authorities and in the case of Galeano for the second time, “we owe ourselves to the citizens and our conduct is permanently under public scrutiny, so I am convinced that respect for laws and institutions must start of us”.

He further indicated that in his capacity as president-electwill ensure that all citizens subjected to proceedings have the guarantees that the constitution confers on them and reaffirmed their commitment to work so that the Public Ministry and the Judiciary can perform independently and without any type of pressure or interference, other than the very purpose of doing justice.
