Pemex: congratulations to Fátima Bosch was due to popular enthusiasm

After criticism for the congratulations and after it was revealed that Pemex awarded a million-dollar contract to the owner of 50% of Mis Universo, Raúl Rocha, the company headed by Víctor Rodríguez Padilla affirmed that the agreement is already current.

“It is reported that, in accordance with due diligence, an 11-month contract was signed in February 2023 with the companies that jointly participated Servicios PJP4 de México SA de CV and Soluciones Gasificadores del Sur SA de CV. It should be noted that to date there is no current contractual relationship,” Pemex said in an information card.

These companies – among them Soluciones Gasificadores del Sur SA de CV, which belongs to Raúl Rocha – had a contract with the parastatal for 745.6 million pesos, according to contract 640853806.

During that year, Fátima Bosch Fernández’s father, Bernardo Bosch Hernández, had a management position within the Mexican oil company.

In the information card, Pemex also emphasizes that it has no interference with the directors of the international competition and that the publication congratulating Bosch Fernández was made “within the framework of popular enthusiasm for his victory.”

“Pemex reiterates its commitment to comply with actions that reinforce the ethics and integrity of its workers, as well as the fight against corruption within the institution,” the parastatal concluded.

Adding to this controversy are the statements of Omar Harfouch, former jury of the international competition, who called Bosch Fernández a “false winner.”

Omar Harfouch resigned as a judge in the middle of the contest and emphasized that it was agreed that Bosch Fernández would win the beauty contest. In addition, he accused Raúl Rocha, president of Miss Universe, of having “business” with the winner’s father, who has held various positions at Pemex.

However, the winner’s family not only has a relationship with Pemex, but also with Morena.

Bosch Fernández is the niece of the former senator from Morena and current head of the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People (INDEP), Mónica Fernández, who in 1984 participated and won the beauty pageant called Flor Tabasco.

Likewise, his brother Bernardo Bosch Fernández worked as a legislative advisor in the Senate, collaborating with the Morenoist Verónica Camino Farjat.
