He Real Betis will play this Wednesday in San Diego (California) its second friendly of the American tour against Manchester United, which was for three years eternal rival of Manuel Pellegrinithen City manager. “It was three years of great rivalry. I will always be a City fan. Manchester United is an institution that deserves great respect,” said the Chilean coach in the press conference prior to the match, which will be played at four in the morning on Thursday, Spanish time.
Pellegrini described the match against Manchester United as “another important game, to see what level we are at”, although he stressed that the “objective is August 15th”, the day of the league debut against Girona.
Pellegrini did not want to comment on the many names -Ricardo Rodríguez, Coulibaly, Vitao, James…- that have been linked to Real Betis, both for leaving and for coming: “If we start talking about rumours, we would be talking for an hour. Betis’ squad is what it is, we will see in the future how we can strengthen it.”
The Betis coach has not closed the door to Guido Rodríguez, despite the fact that the sporting director did so a few days ago: “Nothing in life can be ruled out 100%, and even less so for a player who is still without a team and who we know. We focus on the day to day and we will see what happens in the future,” said Pellegrini.

He has also made it clear that he still has faith in William Carvalho: “He is part of the squad, a large amount of money is needed to replace the player.” Manuel Pellegrini does not consider the squad to be complete: “Of course there is still work to be done, we must have a balanced squad, that is what we are working on. The ideal is to have the squad as soon as possible. Many times important offers are made, we will see how things develop over time.”
