The Albert Einstein hospital announced this Monday (28) that former player Edson Arantes do Nascimento, known as Pelé, was discharged after recovering from a urinary tract infection. The King of Football had been at the institution since February 13, when he began a battery of routine exams.
The discharge was given last Saturday (26), and the hospital note says that “the patient is in stable clinical conditions, already cured of his urinary infection, and will follow the treatment of the colon tumor, identified in September 2021. ”.
Pele underwent surgery to remove the colon tumor in September 2020. He was hospitalized for almost a month at the time, spending part of the period in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He is expected to return at least once a month to the hospital to continue treatment.
