Former Brazilian soccer player Edson Arantes do Nascimento ‘Pelé’, 81, was discharged this Thursday after spending three days hospitalized to undergo tests related to cancer treatment and is in good condition.

The doctors at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, who care for what is considered by many to be the best soccer player in history, reported the discharge in a brief statement in which they specified that Pelé “is in good and stable condition” of health.
In September of last year, when undergoing a series of routine exams that he had postponed for about fifteen months due to the coronavirus pandemic, doctors detected colon cancer, for which he has already been operated on once.

Since then, Pelé has been undergoing a treatment that has included chemotherapy sessions and monthly analyzes to check its effectiveness against the tumor.
In recent years, Pelé’s health has also deteriorated due to other causes, such as spinal, hip and knee problems that have reduced his mobility and forced him to undergo surgery.
Likewise, the former soccer player has suffered some kidney crises, which have also led to his being hospitalized.
