Pedro Castillo's nephews and sister apply for deputies with Together for Peru

The list was closed at the stroke of midnight this Tuesday at the National Elections Jury (JNE).

Peru21 confirmed that the Together for Peru list was registered at the close of midnight, and among those invited to the Chamber of Deputies of the new bicameral Congress are Yenifer Paredes and Cledin Vasqueznephews of former president Pedro Castillo, along with his sister Irma Castillo.

The four were incorporated as guests of the party, in a move that was announced by Perú21 last August, in the report titled: ‘The moves to assemble Pedro Castillo’s bench.’

List of guests to the Chamber of Deputies of Together for Peru.

The table is completed with César Tito Rojas, leader of Fenate Perú in Punoindicated as close to the Chotano professor and with links in the past to Movadef, the political arm of Sendero Luminoso.

In May 2018, he traveled with Pedro Castillo and Edgar Tello to a Movadef event in Bolivia, organized by the head of that organization in that country, Alex Shaman.

These candidacies respond to a political agreement between Together for Peru and Pedro Castillo’s party, Everything with the People, a coalition that is beginning to consolidate with a view to next year’s elections.

The Castilian bench

Last August, Peru21 published a report in which it reported that Todo con el Pueblo (TCP) and Together for Peru (JP) They had closed a political agreement so that the Chotano professor, Pedro Castillocould run for the Senate, while some of his relatives, members of his party, did so as guests to the Chamber of Deputies on JP’s list.

This is because TCP cannot participate in the 2026 general elections, having registered as a political party after April 12, the deadline established to compete in the April elections of next year.

Among the names that were being considered at that time were Irma Castillo Terrones, Pedro Castillo’s sister and national secretary of Women in TCP, as well as her nephew Cledin Vásquez Castillo, son of Adelinda Castillo – another of her sisters – who holds the position of national secretary of International Relations of the party and is the brother of Fray Vásquez.

According to the JP list, Cledin Vásquez is running for deputy for Callao, Irma Castillo for Lima and César Tito for Puno.

As recalled, Fray Vásquez is investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office in the Puente Tarata case and is linked to the so-called Shadow Cabinet case.

This medium also reported that the roster would be completed with another nephew: Gian Marco Castillo, son of his older brother, José Mercedes Castillo, who is not a member of any political party.

Gian Marco Castillo is a key character in the Sarratea case, identified as the alleged coordinator of the informal circle that operated from Breña’s home to make appointments and direct state contracts during the Castillo government.

In April of this year, Perú21 revealed that Gian Marco—without militancy in TCP or JP—was hired as a coordinator in the office of Congressman Roberto Sánchez.

However, Gian Marco Castillo does not appear on the guest list that Together for Peru presented at midnight this Tuesday.

In our August report we also did not evaluate the application of the sister of Pedro Castillo’s wife, Lilia Castillo, who was granted asylum in Mexico after the coup d’état.

However, JP does appear on JP’s guest list as a candidate for deputy for Cajamarca.

Pedro Castillo, for his part, could not be registered as a candidate either, because he was sentenced to 11 years in prison for the crime of conspiracy to rebel, after the coup d’état of December 7, 2022, and is also disqualified for two years from holding public office.

This media also reported that Gian Marco Castillo He was captured in November, along with the general secretary of Together for Peru, Ernesto Zúñiga, who works as a technician in the office of the president of the party and congressman Roberto Sánchez – presidential candidate of JP -, as part of the laptop supporting the former president during working hours, according to images released by Cuarto Poder.

Due to these events, Sánchez, Castillo and Zúñiga face an investigation in the Special Electoral Jury of Lima Este 1.

Meanwhile, the registered lists will be evaluated by the National Elections Jury (JNE), whose deadline to admit candidacies expires on February 13.

Then will come the next phase of the electoral process, one that usually redefines the political board: the crossouts.

For now, the curtain is just rising. The electoral story is just beginning.
