the nephew of former president Pedro Castillo, Jaime Vasquez Castilloassured that his brother Fray Vasquez Castillowho is a fugitive from justice after being ordered preliminary detention for the Puente Tarata case, will make himself available to the authorities “in these days.”
“My brother does not turn himself in for fear of reprisals against him. What confidence does this National Prosecutor and these power groups give us? They accuse without evidence. What did they do with it? From the front arrest warrant, that’s not justice. Why didn’t they call him? He hid out of fear, ”Jaime Vásquez told Canal N.
“Sooner or later my brother is going to give himself up. (When?) Very soon, these days, he is going to straighten up because what my family and my brother live is slavery. We have never been living in this situation. We live a nightmare every day, ”he added.
Jaime Vásquez tried to defend his brother and alleged that “there have been bad people who have taken advantage of his nobility and trust.”
“Many people have come looking for me, but I don’t know what it is like. But if a businessman or someone invites me a plate of food, I don’t have to turn it down. Or perhaps because I am Pedro Castillo’s nephew I am prohibited from everything, ”he said.
Fray Vásquez has been a fugitive for more than 8 months
Pedro Castillo’s nephew, Friar Vasquez, has been in hiding for more than eight months. On March 28, the Judiciary ordered his preliminary arrest; however, he was not located.
Then, in April of this year, the preparatory investigation judge Manuel Chuyo imposed 36 months of pretrial detention against Vásquez Castillo. In May, the Second Criminal Appeals Chamber reduced the coercive measure to 24 months.
