Between raids and arrest warrants, Tuesday, August 9, became one of the most critical days for the president peter castle, after a team made up of the National Prosecutor’s Office and Diviac agents of the PNP entered the government palace in search of the president’s sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredes.
Given these events, the head of state issued a message to the nation in which he pointed out that these provisions of the Judiciary correspond to a “media show.” After these statements, it is worth reviewing who the president met with prior to testifying about the arrests made to his close circle.
The visit of Pedro Castillo’s “trusted ministers”
As soon as the president arrived at the Government Palace, a meeting was arranged in his presidential office, which began at 6:23 pm In it, Castillo held a meeting of more than four hours with three ministers from his Cabinet.
Thus, less than 10 minutes before the president gave his message to the nation, ministers Felix Chero, from the Justice portfolio; Roberto Sánchez, head of the Mincetur; and Alejandro Salas, in charge of the Labor sector, concluded their meeting with the head of state, which ended at 10:37 p.m.
Castillo met with lawyers from Bermejo and Cerrón
In addition, due to the situation surrounding his sister-in-law, Yenifer Paredes, Castillo added to his agenda a meeting with legal representatives of prominent figures close to Peru Libre, such as Ronal Atencio Sotomayor, Guillermo Bermejo’s lawyer; and Raúl Noblecilla, Vladimir Cerrón’s lawyer; in addition to his lawyer, José Palomino Manchego, in charge of representing the president in parliamentary matters.
The meeting took place minutes before 8:00 pm and was held until 10:35 pm, almost at the same time as his meeting with the ministers. This is not the first time that Castillo has met with the lawyers of Bermejo and Cerrón, since one day before Aníbal Torres made his position available, he also had a meeting with the two jurists.
In the case of Palomino Manchego, this meeting was held until after the message was issued to the nation, since the transparency record verifies that the visit of his lawyer took place until minutes before midnight.
Meetings with other authorities
Other meetings held hours before his speech include the visit of Foreign Minister Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Mackay and his secretary Miguel Gamarra Malc; and Alfonso Huerta Fernández, head of the National Water Authority.
