The president of the Republic, peter castlewill receive this Tuesday, July 19 at the United Nations High Commissioner, Michelle Bachelet, in Government Palace. In said meeting, the president and the former president of Chile will discuss various issues, such as the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, in the framework of economic recovery in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In addition, the situation of the country and the International Human Rights System, its promotion and protection, cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and Peru’s candidacy for the Human Rights Council will be evaluated. H H. 2024 – 2026″, informed Palacio in a press release.
The meeting will take place at 10:00 am in the Ambassadors’ Room of the Government Palace. According to the presidency, its purpose is to “strengthen capacities in the different sectors of the State, through increased cooperation to reinforce the human rights approach in the design and implementation of national plans and programs.”

Ministers César Landa (Foreign Relations) and Félix Chero Medina (Justice and Human Rights) will also be present at the meeting.
On behalf of Bachelet’s team will be José María Aranaz, Official of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights; María Campbell, Coordinator of the Technical Mission of the aforementioned office and Igor Garafulic, Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Peru.
