Pedro Castillo will also be investigated for alleged interference in military promotions

The prosecutor of the Nation, Zoraida Ávalos, opened an investigation to Pedro Castillo for their alleged interference in the promotion process of the Armed forces, as well as due to the apparent irregular participation of the president in the biodiesel tender by Petroperú and the award of the Tarata bridge work, in San Martín.

According to the tax provision, to which Peru21 had access, Castillo is charged the crime of “influence peddling or illegal sponsorship”.

This newspaper revealed in November the pressure from the Executive to order promotions in the Army and Air Force. Later, the former general commanders José Vizcarra (Army) and Jorge Chaparro (FAP) confirmed these pressures that occurred before being retired.

Both military officers indicated that both former Defense Minister Walter Ayala and former Presidential Secretary Bruno Pacheco ordered them to promote certain officers by orders “from above.”

WHAT CASTILLO SAID

The tax provision records the testimonial statement that Castillo provided on December 28. In it, the president was asked how he knew that Commander Víctor Torres Quispe was applying for the rank of colonel in the process of promotion.

Despite the fact that in the chat it is evident that the president forwards Torres’s name to him and then writes “For Coronel”, Castillo responds to the prosecutor that “he did not know he was applying, I simply asked Vizcarra if he was applying.”

However, in the chat no question is appreciated from the head of state, rather it is appreciated that this message is an order.

In the aforementioned chat, the president at no time asked the former commander general if Torres was running for colonel.
