At the end of the session of the Board of Spokespersons, the 119 congressmen who marked attendance in the Plenary proceeded to vote on both proposals to receive the president in the Plenary. Thus, the proposal of the Popular Renovation spokesman, Jorge Montoya, was rejected with 97 votes against, 19 in favor and 0 abstentions. While Alva’s proposal was approved with 86 votes in favor, 21 against and 10 abstentions.

This morning, the Congress of the Republic admitted to debate the motion that proposes the vacancy of President Pedro Castillo due to permanent moral incapacity, the second so far of the current Government.
By 76 votes in favor, 41 against and 1 in abstention, the national representation gave the green light for Castillo’s presentation before the Plenary. 50 votes were required to continue with the impeachment process, since only 120 of the 130 members of Congress were present.
