The Republic President, peter castlesigned this Thursday, June 7, a supreme decree to democratize the Teacher Spill. During his participation in the closing session of the Decentralized Council of Ministers held in Cajamarca, the head of state signed the document and showed it to the cameras. However, he did not give any details of the points that this rule modifies.
“I understand that there is a demand for the teacher himself at the national level. In this framework, he has been working with the Ministry of Education, concerning the Teacher Spill. Today we are going to sign that supreme decree, where we are going to democratize the Teacher Spill”, the president specified.
Given this, fountains of the Magisterial Outpouring confirmed to The Republic that they were also not aware of what was contained in the document signed by Castillo. Therefore, they have not been able to establish a position on this new provision.
“We have no information about it yet. The decree has not been published or shown. Until the document is available and it is known what is being talked about, there is not going to be a position of the institution, because we don’t know what to talk about,” they asserted.
For its part, the Unitary Union of Workers in Education of Peru (sutep) considered that it was a “desperate measure” on the part of the Executive and that what the president intended was to manage the resources of the teachers.
“Desperate measure. No project in the same sense has gone through being unconstitutional, but once again the occupant of the Palace insists on his populism and demagoguery. He surely wants the claws of his fugitives Pacheco and Silva to touch the resources of the teachers. They will not pass!” the entity wrote through its Twitter account.
Arequipa: teachers ask for changes in the directory of Spill Magisterial
On the last 4th of July, teachers from the Arequipa Regional Teachers’ Union (Simag) made their express request to the president peter castle and to Congress for the democratization of the Teacher Spill to materialize.
The proposal of the members of Simag intends that the directory of the Teaching Spill is elected by vote of the teachers themselves and not by appointments. According to the secretary of this guild, Walter Andia, currently, four members of the Spill must belong to Sutep, which he considered undemocratic.
“More than 40 years and the directory of the Teaching Spill is only occupied by members of Sutep. We are contributors and we have the right to elect and be elected by universal vote with advice from the ONPE”, said Andia.
