The National Prosecutor’s Office requested 36 months of preventive prison against Pedro Castillo for allegedly lead a criminal organization in the modality of aggravated collusion and influence peddling. The initiative also falls on the ex-ministers John Silva (Transportation and Communications) and Geiner Alvarado (Living place).
The Supreme Prosecutor Uriel Teran presented the request before the Supreme Court of Justice, after the Prosecutor’s Office formalized the investigation against the former president on Tuesday, February 21.
Once the request has been submitted, Judge Juan Carlos Checkley Soria, head of the Supreme Court’s preparatory investigation court, will announce the start of the hearing.
Pedro Castillo: Prosecutor’s hypothesis
The Prosecutor’s Office attributes to the former president Pedro Castillo Being the head of a criminal organization destined to commit various acts of corruption.
According to the hypothesis of the Prosecutor’s Office, the former president copied the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) to direct works such as the tender for the Tarata II bridge in favor of the consortium made up of the companies Tapusa, Termirex SAC and HB Estructuras Metálicas. This happened when Juan Silva was serving as a minister.
Likewise, he is credited with having appointed Hugo Chávez Arévalo as general manager of Petroperú in exchange for 30,000 soles from Fermín Silva.
In the Ministry of Housing, the work of Geiner Alvarado was key for Pedro Castillo, because with an emergency decree it would have benefited mayors and congressmen to direct state works.
