Former President Pedro Castillo appointed Ronald Atencio, a lawyer close to parliamentarian Guillermo Bermejo, as his only lawyer. This after his previous legal representative, Miguel Pérez Arroyo, resigned to defend him after denouncing attacks by people close to the former president.
“The law firm that I represent with good will accepted the request of Mr. Pedro Castillo to exercise his defense. However, in the last few hours we have been victims of direct attacks by his closest circle,” he said via Twitter.
