The study consulted the population from Monday, January 24 to Thursday, January 27, and has margins of error of 2.8 points above and below each result at the national level.
Approximately 28.9% of Peruvians approve of the way Castillo is conducting his government. This is just over a quarter of the country, without being a third. A situation similar to a month ago, when he had 28% approval in the IEP survey.

On the contrary, 61.5% of citizens disapprove of the way in which the president conducts the Executive Branch. That is to say, three out of five disapprove of him in his management of the government, grosso modo. There it is also like in December, when 60% gave it this disqualification.
Lima continues to be the area with the most rejection of the president.

In September of last year, 27% of Peruvians considered that the head of state and his collaborators handled the fight against state corruption well or very well. Now only 11% have these favorable views of the government.
In the same time, Those who perceive that Castillo and his team manage the fight against corruption in the State poorly or very poorly increased from 38% of the country to 60%.
In September, 23% of citizens thought that the president and his officials handled the fight against poverty well or very well. Now, only 11% of the national population has these perceptions.

In those four months, those who estimate that Castillo and his collaborators manage the fight against poverty poorly or very poorly increased from 32% of citizens to 53%.
Those who believe that the president and his team manage the economy well or very well have gone from being 20% of the country in September to being 10%.
Those who perceive that Castillo and his officials manage health services well or very well fell from 27% to 17%, from September to January.

Although vaccination against Covid-19 is the most valued by the government (as well or very well), they have also lost there since September: from 58% to 49%.
In addition, this time 72% perceive that Castillo and his team handle the fight against crime poorly or very poorly.
Congress and Alva
The approval of Congress remains at 20% and its disapproval at 77%, similar levels to how it closed last year.
At the same time, the approval of its president, María del Carmen Alva, remains at 26% and her disapproval at 65%.
Indecisions that cost

A few days ago, the government declared a state of emergency in metropolitan Lima and Callao, due to high crime rates. On the other hand, in what has already become a common practice of the president, he has let a crisis grow in the Interior sector, to the point of having forced the resignation of the Interior Minister with his indecision. Is the government interested in improving citizen security? To the president it seems that not so much, and the people know it. Seven out of ten Peruvians believe that the government handles the fight against crime poorly or very poorly, as revealed by the latest IEP survey. And the corruption issue is no better, only 11% believe that the government manages the fight against corruption well or very well.
These facts do not seem to have affected the approval of the president, although they do not help to improve it either. The first decline in presidential approval was in November and reached 25%, now it is at 29%, but it is not a statistically significant increase. Beyond the latest interviews (the first actually) that the president has given, what may affect his popularity will be the actions he takes in the economy, corruption and insecurity, which are issues that concern the public.
A side note about the oil spill on the coast. The majority of those interviewed (77%) believe that the main responsible party is the Repsol company, and more than 90% think that it is not doing anything (46%) or is not doing enough (45%) in the face of the consequences of the spill . But neither do they believe (59%) that the State is doing enough.
