The former president Pedro Castillo filed a criminal complaint against officials of the National Penitentiary Institute pointing them out as responsible for the leak of photographs taken inside his cell in the Barbadillo prison, disseminated by the media.
The legal action was filed this Tuesday, February 10, denouncing that the dissemination of these images violates constitutional rights that are linked to privacy and the protection of personal data. Furthermore, it indicates that it constitutes alleged crimes committed by public officials.
This complaint is directed against Henry García Malpartidadirector of Security of the National Penitentiary Institute, and Shadia Elizabeth Valdez Tejada, president of the National Penitentiary Council.
The former president’s legal defense requests that a preliminary tax investigation be arranged to determine responsibility for the dissemination of the images.
It should be remembered that the images were captured in Castillo’s cell, who faces preventive detention in the Barbadillo prison.
The images show personal objects and prison conditions of the former president, and were released without his authorization.
The defense maintains that, although the State can carry out prison inspections, the public dissemination of this material lacks legal basis.
