The spokesman for the caucus Alliance for Progress (APP), Eduardo Salhuana, considered “correct” the decision of the Public Ministry to open a preliminary investigation against President Pedro Castillo for the alleged plagiarism of his master’s thesis at the César Vallejo University.
In statements to Canal N, he indicated that with this decision, the National Prosecutor, Paul Sanchezmodify the decision of her predecessor in office, Zoraida Ávalos, Failure to investigate Castillo Terrones for the Sarratea Case but until the end of his term, in 2026.
“It seems to us the right decision. I believe that the community demands transparency and the Public Ministry has to fulfill its functions. APP always marked a position around what was indicated by the Nation’s prosecutor, Dr. Ávalos, in the sense of not investigating the president until 2026 on the Sarratea case “he expressed.
“I hope that with this the new prosecutor of the Nation changes this causticism and proceeds to investigate because citizens demand transparency and cases of alleged irregular, illegal or corrupt acts are investigated”he added.
Regarding the debate of an opinion in the Constitution Commission that recommends shelving the bill presented by the Executive Power to convene a referendum for a Constituent AssemblySalhuana informed that his bench will support the proposal of Patricia Juárez (Popular Force).
“We consider that it is a project that what it generates -rather than unity among Peruvians, is confrontation at a time of crisis, where we perhaps need to have closer points of view to face the problems that citizens are going through, which is employment, investment, projects, promote private investment, generate confidence and political stability at the national level”he underlined.
Finally, the APP legislator pointed out that the decision of the National Prosecutor, Paul Sanchezto investigate the former Minister of Transport and Communications Juan Silva Villegas and six congressmen will allow to partially recover the “presence” that Parliament should have.
“I believe that these investigations are urgent and necessary, and in the case of Congress, very important to partially recover the excellence that such an important State power should have. I believe that if a congressman would allegedly be involved in these acts, he must be investigated and, logically, if responsibility is found, he must be sanctioned accordingly”sentenced.
